Political Lunch 06-26-08: Thursday Snack

June 26, 2008

Ralph Nader didn’t put his foot in his mouth, but Obama supporters would probably like to put a boot in his… nevermind. Rob looks at what it means to “talk white” on the campaign trail.

Thanks for the nice analysis and opinion about this point. Nader has some good insights in certain problems, but I think you’re right that he should reconsider the box he wants to put Obama in. Taking on to broad a constituency, however, might pose problems for Obama too. Look for example at his recent support for FISA to make himself look good on national security and draw bush-style republican’s votes. To all the people giving him grassroots funding that might be a very unpleasant wake-up call, because I think they also view this as him giving in to (telecom company) lobbyists. I bet they don’t like it that Obama is breaking the promise of not bending to lobbyists if lots of ordinary Americans would fund his campaign instead.

Got something to say?
