It’s Monday, so today we’ll ease you back into the week with a look at the little things that could make a big difference in November: veeps, bad jokes, and third parties.

Got something to say?

Dear Will & Rob,
As a sometime Green Party member (but registered Democrat) I am proud to say that the Green Party has NOT presented Ralph Nader as its nominee this year (nor did they do so in 2004, I believe). See here http://www.gp.org/index.php and check out the right-hand column for their list of presidential candidates.
Please, please, don’t drag down the Green Party in the dirt with that good-guy-gone-wrong, Ralph Nader!
We misspoke about the 2008 election, and will try to correct this in the program.
However, it is worth noting that Nader did win Green Party primaries in California and Massachusettes this year, and was the Green Party candidate in both 1996 and 2000. Nader’s running mate this year is Matt Gonzalez, a Green Party politician in San Francisco who only left the party this March after joining Nader as a running mate.
I’m afraid that if the Green Party is still in the dirt with Nader, it may be the result of their own success together. In 2000 Nader was treated as a hero by many party members for drawing thousands of people to events and getting incredible attention for the Greens. It was only after the close election results between Gore and Bush that many moderate Greens began to be less enthusiastic about him as a candidate and the Green Party’s impact overall.
